I am not a chocolate lover.Period. The only chocolaty stuff of my preference would be some sort of nuts/wafers coated with chocolate.Ferraro is something which I can relate to. Kitkat/Perk is another. Pure chocolate ? Nah! Guess u get the idea. So its not a surprise that I adore this recipe for Walnut strudel since it has all the chocolate combined with not only nuts ( that too walnuts! There just something with walnuts and chocolate! Yum! )but also wafery puff pastry enclosing it.
Sheer Heaven in a bite. I was cleaning out my pantry and came upon some itsy bitsy pieces of some dark chocolate chunks, white ,semi sweet chocolate chips along with some vanilla flavored dessert fondue candies. I always have a box of puff pastry in my freezer for emergency. So that did it. The result was in one word ‘Yummmmmm’
Its v simple and does not need lots of work. The prep time takes only 5-6 min max.Rest is done by the oven
Here goes
Method
1. Preheat Oven to 375F. Take a M/W bowl and add the chocolate chips, butter, milk. M/W for 1 to 1 1/2 min, stirring in the middle to avoid burning.
2. Take out and keep stirring till its all smooth and without lumps.
3. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a floured surface so that there are no cracks and spread the chocolate mixture on the pastry leaving 1 1/2 inches in the ends.
4.Sprinkle the walnuts on the chocolate along with cinnamon.
5.Roll it up like a jelly role and then brush it with melted butter.

Hi Dhivya,
What a wonderful strudel. Similar to the one we bake in Slovakia. Try prunes or grapes next time. They are fabulous, both ….

That looks scrumptious Dhivya. I’ve only made savoury rolls using puffpastry (spinach and cheese). Walnuts and chocolate sounds delish.

me too!
Happy holidays.
