“I have no trouble with my enemies. I can take care of my enemies all right. But my damn friends—they’re the ones that keep me walking the floor nights! “
—- Warren G. Harding
Friends – They make you do things which you otherwise think inane, or to be more appropriate would not have thought possible. But then, here I am, doing exactly what my best pal, fellow blogger, Siri thinks I could. Whats that? – An Event! Who am I to complain!
This is going to be my first and I sure did hear ‘Oh No, Not Again!’ comment from many, but hey this event is as simple as it gets. Taters,Murphy, Spuds,Kartoffel, Aloo, Kelangu or simply Potatoes. Call it whatever – a potato is a potato is a potato
This is the International year of the Potato which has been chosen to spread an awareness about the importance of Potatoes( as if we would eat only then!). Now you all must be aware that we already had an event on the same theme for JFI, but potatoes are an all time fav and this is Its year. We have countless recipes and countless varieties that we always have room for more. Purple Potatoes, Baby Potatoes, fingerling Potatoes,Red potatoes – the list is endless. So -
Bring out your best books,use your crooks,
Snap your tater dish with its dashing good looks
let imagination fly high- Oh you talented and passionate cooks!
(oh ok! I went overboard with my rhyming there! I know!)
Make any dish – Breakfast/Brunch/Lunch/CrunchMunch/Dinner – anything. Awe comeon, I know there is someone right now reading this post with potato chips in hand! You dont have to think hard!They are quite simple and easy to make. Potatoes appeal to all and are enjoyed by everyone,everwhere of all ages. So imbibed into potatoes are we that,this versatile vegetable ( more about it here,) finds it way into our vocabulary as well.( remember :” couch potato”, “a hot potato”,”meat-and-potatoes “)They are healthy and wealthy and this poem by the Irish poet Bryant gives away the role played by it.
“They make the boys stout, and they keep the girls slender,
They soften the heart and they strengthen the mind;
And the man from the bog, or the lord in high splendor,
All live by potatoes, as all folks can find. “
Planning to add that potato in that dish to enhance the taste? Wondering when you are going to make that potato dish you have been keeping in the draft for a long while? Have time just enough to make that simple potato curry? Creative hormones working overtime for the simple potato dish?
All you have to do is to -
