Karthigai Deepam 2009 Recipes

Karthigai Deepam festival ( Dec 1 2009) is technically the Diwali equivalent for Tamil Hindus in India. Unlike many other Hindu festivals, it is virtually unknown in most other parts of the country. Lots of firecrackers, new clothes and wonderful earthen lamps in every house represents this festival of lights. There is something to be said of the aroma of these lamps burning in every porch, steps, pathways of every house.

I am not going to elaborate on the wonderful stories and legends behind this festive occasion – we have other. resourceful. sites. to do the honor for us :) . What I am going to showcase are the yummy recipes which are made on this occasion. I have shown the main – must have – recipes below.

    I make adhirasam for Karthigai, uppappam and pori urundai. The low-cal appam is very interesting.
