This is simple and easy yet delicious recipe. We have so many variations to this recipe. This is one of the kind my mother always used to make when we were kids.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 Lb - Puffed Rice/ Murmura
  • 2 Tbsp - Dalia Powder (Roasted Chana dal/Pappulu)
  • 1 small - Onion Chopped
  • 5 - Green chili - adjusted according to taste
  • 1 tsp - Salt
  • 2 Tbsp - Roasted Peanuts
  • Pinch of turmeric
  • water
  • Chopped Cilantro, Lemon juice
  • 2 tsp - oil
  • 1 stem - Curry leaves
  • 1/2 tsp - Mustard seeds
Method

Soak Murmura in water for 10 minutes and squeeze the water from it.

Add the grinded green chili and Dalia powder along w. Salt to the Murmura and mix it.

Take a big skillet on the stove and add oil, when oil is hot add mustard seeds and curry leaves and when mustard starts to sizzle add chopped onions and saute it for 2 minutes. Add Murmura mix to it and mix it evenly and now add pinch of turmeric to the Murmura and cook for 8-10 minutes and then add Roasted peanuts and off the stove.

When Murmura upma cools down add lemon juice according to taste and then garnish w. Cilantro. Upma is ready to serve.
