I came to know about chocolate chip cookies way before my advent into US, during the times when I was still naive to the world other than mine which comprised of just my house, our whole family and friends. But I have always been curious about other places and countless hours have been spent in the libraries gaping at pic all over the world.
The famous sitcom "Friends"(thanks to star plus channel) introduced me to an American'ised lifestyle. There was this particular show in Friends which made me laugh so uncontrollably, that I got a good 45min of sound advise from my mother for not behaving 'womanly' and laughing out so loudly (!!!). "What will people say?" was her berating query! Anyways coming back to Friends - I relate a lot with the character Monica - I am a neatness freak, I luv cooking and I am organized like hell ( but I am not sure if I am that organized like her!)
This particular show was based on character Phoebe's Grandma's Chocolate Chip Cookie and from it , I sure got to know about what cookies were all about. I remember discussing the same with my mom but never ever did I imagine that one day, I will be here in this country and make cookies! Needless to say Chocolate chip cookies were my first cookies I ever made. This show was my inspiration to making the American Classic.
Preheat the oven to 350F. Grease two baking sheets with spray. Cream the butter with the sugars with a mixer.
When they are light and fluffy, add in the egg and the vaniall extract and slowly beat it into the mixture.
Then sift the flour along with the soda and salt and mix it gradually in the butter mixture.
Gently fold in the chocolate chips and the walnuts. Dont do it aggresively, it should be v gentle.
Place heaped spoonfuls of the dough in the baking sheet ( you can use small icecream scoops) about 2 inches apart.
Bake them for 10-15 min till lightly brown and cool on a wire rack.
Hey, Ok so i tried this too....just added a little lesser choco chips....hubby not too fond of choco chips :) turned out nice.
Hi! I made this recipe today, with my 5yo son. He helped mix the dough . Came out wonderfully well, athough I would have liked it a bit gooey (was it because I used whole wheat pastry flour?). It was however gulped down by my husband, who generally avoids cookies and cream saying it was "so nice"! So I give this recipe a !! Thanks for sharing!
yes you can :)
Substitute the egg with 1/4 cup of vegetable oil --DK
Any unsalted butter will work. I think 1/2 cup will be around 112 grams of butter. Hope this helps :) --DK
