“Shahi Tukda” is a wonderful dessert .The best part is, its easiness to prepare without compromising the taste. Try this out and impress your guests.Today I made this,in a low fat version,light n healthy dessert,Traditionally it calls for lots of fat and calorie,as breads are deep fried and whole milk Rabdi is poured on them.

Ingredients
  • Brown bread slices
  • 3 cups skimmed milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon saffron leaves
  • 2 small cardamoms (grounded)
  • 100 gms paneer grated
  • 1/3 cup low fat cream
  • 1/2 cup chopped almonds and pistachios
  • Sugar free powder as per taste
  • For Garnish:
  • Silver varakh
Method
1.

Cut the bread slices diagonally into two equal halves.Toast the bread slice on hot griddle / microwave / toaster.Until turns golden brown from both the sides.
Remove the bread slices and keep aside.

Heat milk in a pan over medium heat and add ground cardamoms and sugar free powder.Dip toasted bread slices into milk and soak them for 25-30 seconds.
Then take out the slices from the milk and set aside in a flat plate.Keep inside the refrigerator for half an hour.

Meanwhile, add the paneer and remaining milk and cook it over low-medium heat.Add low fat cream and simmer for a minutes.Until thickens and form thick milk cream (rabdi).

4.

When ready to serve, spread the fresh, hot cream (rabdi) over the chilled bread slices.And garnish with saffron leaves, varakh and chopped almonds and pistachios......:)
