This is very simple and one of the old recipes my mother learned first time at her in-laws i.e @ my grandma's house. This chutney goes very well with Dosa/ Upma/ chapathi or Rice.

  • Cook time:
  • Prep time:
Ingredients
  • 1 cup - Roasted Chana Dal/Daria Dal/ Dalia
  • 1/2 cup - Roasted Peanuts
  • 1 small chopped Onion
  • 4-5 Red chillies
  • 1 tsp - Tamarind paste
  • 1 Tbsp - Dry Shredded Coconut (optional)
  • 1tsp - Salt
  • 1 Tbsp - Oil
Method
1.

Grind above all ingredients except Onion and Oil into fine paste.

2.

Next add chopped onion and Oil to above chuntey and do one quick run of the mix so onions get mixed evenly in the chutney. Transfer the chutney into bowl and it is ready to serve.

Hi, If I'm not wrong, roasted channa dal/pottu kadalai in Tamil is called daria dal in Hindi. Broken wheat is called Dalia.I may be wrong...just clarify with any reliable source. Thanks for the recipe  I make peanut chutney the same way except I use fresh coconut, and without tamarind.
