"In my garden there is a large place for sentiment. My garden of flowers is also my garden of thoughts and dreams. The thoughts grow as freely as the flowers, and the dreams are as beautiful."
~Abram L. Urban

Among my other dreams, one was of having a garden of my own. Nothing fancy shmancy -just few plants, some to admire and some to delightfully pluck/snap with my scissors to enhance my palatable senses a notch more! It sure was a day dream! How many times have I spoken to myself, like a chef does; How many times have I gawked at Ina Garten and Paula Deen while they fancied a walk to their Garden to get those "herbs" for dinner/lunch; how many times have I signed! But I always put the thought of, thinking I will start "gardening" or even "potting plants" when I get the "time" to do so...Imagine the hassle while moving places..having the need to water and so many mundane excuses!!!!!. But well, I think my inaudible(!! or I hope so) signs were noticed by DH who sprung a surprise recently when he came back from work! I should have guessed he was upto something when he "started a conversation" on his own about spices on the phone! My eyebrows mirrored my suspicion but I let pass since I really couldnt decipher his actions. He walked in with 2 potted plants, Basil ( which is a spice for him by the way!!) and yellow mum flowers! I actually did a samba right then! (oh right! My version of it that is :) ))

He sure knows me! Knows me too well for my own good! Otherwise how would you explain my visit to the nursery the very next day to get few more :). I had to get fertilizers and stuff but one visit to that place - I was like a child in a chocolate land! Got some herbs and lavender and here I am with a Dessert which is my entry to Grow Your Own(finally!!!! Yipee).

This is a fantastic dessert recipe which I had been eyeing for so long which I saw in a Detox Book (courtesey Barnes n Nobles) and now that I had my own lavender, I set on to make it pronto. I wanted to make it eggless, so adapted the recipe and skipped one egg white which was in the recipe. Do include if you wish to.

Sorbet looks wonderful and you have a companion in me when it comes to fantasizing about 'the own garden' thing! I have grown up amongst such vegetable gardens and yet never bothered to develop the knack of growing them  Just managed to keep two tulsi plants alive and growing well since two months and I am so encouraged! Your lavender plant made me sigh so much!
