Meethe chawal means ,sweet rice a dish that ma mom surely make on day"s like Raksha Bandhan,Diwali and many more festivals.......but as time pass on i started making it by adding every time with some or other fruit flavor........as u all know about ma madness for fruits n veggies......ahhh no ..no this one is made in a very traditional way:)

  • Yields: serves 2-3 person
Ingredients
  • 1 cup basmati rice or any rice will do (soaked for 15-20 mins)
  • 1/2 cup sugar / sugar free powder
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Few strands of saffron
  • Few drops of rose water
  • Blanched and chopped almonds as per your choice or any dry fruit will do
  • orange food color (optional)
  • pinch of salt
Method
1.

In pan add sugar and water and bring to boil,add saffron and make sugar syrup of one thread strand.

In a separate pan boil rice by adding pinch of salt and saffron or orange food color.Strain and cool it.

In a luke waram syrup add rice,nuts,rose water or cardamom,mix lightly.Serve hot.....:)

Orange or pineapple or mango juice will goes well with it.
Can add pieces of fresh fruits to your rice for extra freshness.

Note:
Remain fresh on self for 2-3 day"s.
If wish to add fruit juice, u have to avoid water in sugar syrup.
