This is a side-dish for sambar rice and rasam rice. It contains protein because it has payatham parruppu (yellow lentils) along with the vegetable.

Ingredients
  • payatham paruppu(yellow lentil)-1 cup
  • Beans-300 grams
  • oil-1 teaspoon
  • mustard-1 teaspoon
  • urad dal-1 teaspoon
  • turmeric- 1 teaspoon
  • salt to taste
  • hing powder-1 teaspoon
  • red chilli-2 nos
  • grated coconut-3 tablespoons(optional)
Method
1.

take a kadai. put half a tumbler of water. in it add payatham parrupu, allow it to cook. cut beans into smallpieces, wash it then add it to the boiling paruppu. boil it for 7 more minute. add turmeric.(paruppu should be cooked in soft form)remove it from the fire

in another kadai add oil. in the heated oil add mustard, urad dal, hing powder, red chilli one by one.then add both beans and paruppu together in the kadai. stir it and add salt.If you want you can add grated coconutan dmix it well for 2 minutes. switch off the stove and the poriyal is ready.
