I must say this was one gorgeous looking DIP with a very unique taste!Tastes fantastic with parathas , bread , snacks or nachos and chips.Since its the first time I am blogging on plums I looked up the nutritional benefits ,such as , plums are rich in dietary fibre they are good for the digestive system, eyes and heart n so on.Also has vitamin A,C, K, B6 and E.

Ingredients
  • 8 large ripe red plums (chopped)
  • 3 whole dry red Kashmiri chillies (stems removed)
  • 1tbs oil
  • 7-8 curry leaves
  • 1/4 tsp asafoetida
  • 1/2 cup grated jaggery
  • salt to taste
  • For Tempering:
  • 1/2tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2tsp cumin seeds
Method
1.

Heat oil in saucepan. Add tempering , when it crackles add the broken red chillies, curry leaves and asafoetida.

2.

Add chopped tomatoes and stir the mixture for 10 minutes. Add grated jaggery and salt.

3.

Cook on medium heat for 10 minutes or till the tomatoes are cooked and completely mashed , add chopped plums , stir ,don"t cook for long.After 2 minutes put off the gas.

4.

Cool the mixture and grind to a smooth paste. Can be stored in refrigerator for a week in air tight jars.
