Mohanthal is a traditional ,Gujarati sweet made from coarse chick pea flour.Very easy but delicious sweet.....:)

  • Yields: 15-20 small pieces
  • 1 cup chick pea flour (coarse)
  • 1/2 cup ghee(clarified butter)
  • 2 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 cup mawa (evaporated milk)
  • For Sugar syrup:
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • for Garnish:
  • almonds (blanched n chopped)or pista chopped

In a wide vessel,add chickpea flour and 2 tablespoon ghee,rub in between your palm.Add milk and mix and give crumble effect.Keep covered for 20 minutes.


In a deep wok,heat remaining ghee and add chick pea flour mixture,after shifting from a stainless steel sieve.Roast till aroma arise.


Add mawa and mix well,when it turns golden brown add sugar syrup and mix well,stirring constantly cook for 5-7 minutes.


In a greased plate,pour this mixture and spread evenly.Sprinkle chopped almonds and set for 3-4 hours.


Cut into pieces and store in a air tight jar.Can be stored on self for month.


For Sugar Syrup:In a pan add all ingredients and make one thread syrup.
