Paniyaram is a popular snack item in South India.It can be made both salty and sweet.It's made out of almost the same ingredients of idli batter,but today i tried using some different ingredients:)

  • Yields: serves 4 person
Ingredients
  • 2 cup semolina
  • 1/4 cup sorgham flour
  • 1/4 cup ragi flour
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 cup white part of watermelon (which we usually throw,pureed)
  • 1 cup Onion (finely chopped)
  • Green chillies - 4 number / as per taste / or avoid (crushed)
  • Curry leaves (few,finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp ginger (grated)
  • 1/2 tsp crushed pepper
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt to taste.
  • 1 tbsp Eno-Fruit-Salt
  • For Tempering:
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • pinch of asafoetida
  • Sesame seeds as needed
  • oil as needed.

Method
1.

Mix all ingredients for paniyaram and add tempering.Add Eno-fruit salt and mix well.

2.

Heat the paniyaram maker and apply one teaspoon of oil in each whole.Pour this batter into the whole.

3.

sprinkle sesame seeds over paniyarams.
Turn when the sides turn golden brown.

4.

This goes well with Coconut or Tomato Chutney,sambhar or can be eaten as it is with tea or coffee.......:)
Note:
You can add any veggies of your choice.
Use the batter immediately after addind the Eno.
