Pears are flavorless,can goes well with anything like apple,so just tried it with almond sauce,can be consumed during fasting also.....as I think we need a compact diet,less of fat,more protein,fibre and calorie .......as we don"t take regular 4-5 meals during fasting...good option for Janamashtami....can be served with sago or sama khichdi,any farali puri too:)

Ingredients
  • 2 pears (sliced)
  • For Tempering
  • 1 teaspoon ghee
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2-3 green chilli (slit length wise)/as per taste
  • few curry leaves
  • For Paste:
  • 8-10 almonds (blanched)
  • 1/4 cup yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder (roasted)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon grounded black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup water
Method
1.

In a blender all ingredients for paste and make smooth paste.

In a pan heat ghee and add tempering ,saute for a minute,add pears and saute.Cover and cook for a minute.

Add paste and water and simmer for 5-7 minutes.......serve hot ......:)

Note:You can relish this veg.,during fasting also just add sea salt and avoid turmeric.

i think it"s credit goes to dk ,as when dk was discussing about pears,from that time only my mind started,thinking about it"s uses in different dishes.......made it first time for dinner.....but believe me it"s edible:d
