A very simple and tasty dal, with masoor dal and greens. Full of protein, calcium, and folic acid. Good for all age groups.

  • Yields: serves 2-3 person
Ingredients
  • 1 cup split red lentil (masoor dal)(soaked for 1/2 hrs and boiled and blended with it"s water)
  • For Tempering:
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons ghee (clarified butter)or oil(for vegan)
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 onion (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 1 tablespoon green chilies / as per taste
  • 2 cup greens (spinach,fenugreek leaves and coriander,blanched and chopped)
  • Spices:
  • 2 teaspoons dry mango powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • salt, to taste
  • Water strained from lentil after boiling
Method
1.

Heat the ghee or oil in a pan, add the ingredients,from 4-10 and swat for at least 2 minutes.

Now,add the cooked lentil,the greens, spices and salt and cook for a few minutes.

Serve hot,with any nan,roti,chapatti or jeera rice.......yum:)

NOTE: Give squeeze of lemon on top,while serving for xtra zing and proper absorption of Iron in greens.

NOTE: use little water while boiling the lentils and as this dal is little bit thicker like dal-fry.
