One of the easiest sweets to make from the state of Tamil Nadu. Especially easy for beginner cooks. No Ghee in the recipe (except for greasing the plate)

Ingredients
  • 1 cup fresh Coconut, grated
  • 1 cup sugar (and another 1/4 cup if you like it more sweet)
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1-2 tsp ghee for greasing
Method
1.

Add sugar to the pan. Add enough water to cover the sugar. Boil until it reaches one string consistency. Add the coconut to this sugar mixture.

Bring sugar to boil by adding enough water to cover it. Reduce the heat when it reaches one string consistency. Add the coconut to it.

Keep stirring the coconut until it thickens

When the aroma starts wafting and the coconut mixture starts leaving the edges of the pan, drop it on to a greased plate

5.

Cool for few minutes and then cut into pieces when it hardens
