India is a country of spices and food,all snacks and desserts are available in different different shapes,looks and variations..this is one of them.Potli means money bag..but edible one...:D
For Cover:
In a bowl add all ingredients for cover and knead well and make dough,give it rest it for 15 min.
Now make small balls out of the dough,
roll out,small puri,place 1 tablespoon stuffing in center close and give shape of a potli,Likewise, repeat for all the balls of dough.
Heat oil in a deep frying pan.Drop potlis, gently, into the hot oil and deep fry till golden brown.Tie onion greens around the neck of the potlis,like thread.
Serve hot....with any hot sauce or ketchup,along with any HOT or COLD beverages.
For Stuffing:
In a pan heat oil,add all ingredients of stuffing in a given order,swat in between,cook for 2-3 min,cool it off.
NOTE:If you wish you can bake this potlis @ 180 degrees C in preheated oven for 15-20 min.(give oil or milk wash to potlis before baking it)
NOTE:You can make variation in cover,like you can use any other flour and in place of fruit juice you can use any vegetable juice or plain water for making dough.
NOTE: You can make variation in stuffing,like you can use any sprouts combo or roots vegetable combo for eg. potato-sweet potato-raw banana or mix vegetables combo.
NOTE: You can make this potlis sweet also,by using mawa-dry fruits feeling or paneer-canned fruits filling or any sweet fillings,and after frying just dip it in a 1 thread sugar syrup and coat with silver verk or crushed dry fruits.....SKY is the limit..:)
NOTE: You can make Italian filling or Mexican filling or Chinese filling,by using that particular sauces and spices.
