A dish for special occasions, Malai Kofta is the vegetarian alternative to meatballs. It goes very well with naan or Jeera Rice.Malai Kofta is a delicious savoury dish of Moghlai origin. Malai Kofta is a north Indian speciality, can be made on the eve of Christmas....:)
For Kofta:Mix Mashed potatoes with cornflour and salt, make lemon size balls and stuff, small balls of stuffing into them.Deep fry in hot oil until slightly colored. Drain and keep aside.
(mix ingredients of stuffing and make marble size balls)
For Gravy:In a pan heat oil add all ingredients,up to 29,one by one in a given order, swat in between;bring it to boil and simmer for 5-8mins on slow flame, and when oil separates from the masala, put off the flame.
Stir in fresh cream and garam masala powder, dry fenugreek leaves and mix well.Place warm koftas in a serving dish and pour the hot gravy over it and serve.....hot with rice, nan, kulcha or any flat bread........:)
NOTE:Vegans can avoid cream and mawa. And in place of paneer can use tofu or just avoid it.
NOTE: If you wish you can just steam or grill or bake or shallow fry KOFTA;instead of deep frying to cutt off little bit calorie from dish as it is already high in calories, but for once in a moon on some special occasion one can have it,in small portion.
