I got myself some fresh looking Dill last week and for my usual dinner of Roti (which is Indian flat bread), I added the herb along with often forgotten spice - Dill seed. Depending on your taste buds and preferences, add the herbs since many ppl find the herb little overpowering. I found 1 tbsp of the herb added only the slightest hint of its presence but enough to make a wonderful change and the dill seeds only help to compliment it. Its very simple and not at all time consuming.

  • Serves: 2 people
  • Yields: Makes around 10 thin rotis
  • approx 2 cups whole wheat flour, plus some for dusting
  • approx 1 tbsp dill leaves, chopped ( as per taste, some ppl find it strong.)
  • 2 tsp dill seeds
  • salt to taste
1. Mix all the ingredients together
2. Add enough water to make it into pliable dough, soft yet not sticky.
3. Divide the dough into small balls and using a rolling pin roll it out.
4. Make it into a circle, not too thin nor too thick
5. Cook it in a griddle, add little vegetable oil around the roti, to cook.
6. Turn it after 2-3 minutes when golden/brown spots appear on the surface.

I have dill in Borsct and nothing else.They have so stron flavour that I am always cautious of using them.Love the roti.I can imagine the taste.

I know some people don't like Dill at all, depends on your taste. Dill seeds have strong enough flavor, rotis look yum! :)
