Winter is the season of GRAPES (ANGOOR)in India...here -there ..every where you can see grapes..grapes n grapes...the wonderful,colorful,juicy,tasty,small...delight,so just to salute its nutritional potentials,I decided....to celebrate one day as Grapes Day...n made a whole (last)Sunday spread,containing Grapes !!!!

Ingredients
  • For Dal:
  • 1/2 cup green grapes
  • 1/2 cup split pigeon pea
  • 1 teaspoon split bengal gram
  • 1/4 inch ginger
  • few mint leaves
  • 3 cup water
  • salt to taste
  • For Tempering:
  • 1 tablespoon ghee (Vegans can use oil)
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1 big brown cardamom
  • 2 cloves
  • 1 teaspoon shah jeera (black cumin)
  • pinch of asafoetida
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 2 teaspoon green chilli paste or to taste
  • 1 teaspoon dry coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon chat masala
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala or to taste
  • salt to taste
  • 1 table spoon fresh coriander (chopped)
  • For Garnish:
  • green grapes
  • fresh coriander
  • flower of black grapes
Method
1.

For Dal: Thoroughly wash and soak both lentils together,in 3 cups of water for 1/2 an hrs.Now in a pressure cooker,add soaked lentils,along with the water,salt,grapes,mint and ginger,cover the lid and on high flame take 3 whistles.

For Tempering: In a wok / kadhai heat ghee / oil and add all whole spices and swat for a second,then add ingredients from 15-18 and immediately pour boiled lentil mixture,and on high flame bring to boil.

Now add remaining ingredients and simmer for 5 min on medium flame.Garnish and serve HOT....it taste good with steam rice or any nan ,roti , kulcha too...enjoy:)))
