Tapenade is a dish consisting of puréed or finely chopped olives, capers,artichoke and olive oil and can be used as an appetizer when served with crackers, crusty bread or crudités. It can also be used as a condiment.But here I used it as base of ma toast and also subsituted artichoke with fig and added the touch of honey also,hope you guys will not kill me for all this puzzeling..:D..But ya it taste good...just try it.

  • Yields: make two toast
  • 4 slice multigrain bread (along with crust)
  • For Fig n Olive Tapenade:
  • 3 dry figs (soaked and coarsely crushed)
  • 5 pitted brined black olives (coarsely crushed)
  • 4 capers (rinsed,drained and coarsely crushed)
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 2 black pepper (crushed)
  • For Topping:
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard sauce
  • 2 teaspoon sweet corn (boiled)
  • 2 teaspoon cheddar cheese (grated)
  • 2 teaspoon mozzarella cheese (grated)
  • 2 teaspoon process cheese (grated)
  • Butter or oil (for vegan)-as needed

Mix all ingredients,for Tapenade and refrigerate till used.


Apply 1/2-1/2 quantity of tapenade on each bread.


Now sprinkle 1/2-1/2 quantity of each ingredients for topping on each bread.


Apply 1/4-1/4 tsp mustard sauce on another breads and cover the first bread with it.


Now apply butter or oil on out side of the bread and grill in Sandwich Toaster,till golden.


Cut and serve hot with any cold or hot drink or shake or beverage or mocktail :)


NOTE: IF you wish you can store this Fig-Olive Tapenade in air tight jars in refrigerator for 10-15 days.


NOTE: though taste little bit differ but Vegans can avoid all cheese and just use silken tofu.


NOTE:Those who want it gluten free can use quinoa or corn meal bread for this dish.
