Mixed Dal with Red Chard

Recently on my recent grocery shopping, I came across the freshest looking Red Chard. I bought them home and thought of making a stir fry. I was not too sure if it will go well with my khasta roti, so thought of making it into a dal instead. It turned out to be a very satisfying meal.

i made this for dinner yesterday…The only changes i made were that i add equal amounts of tour and masoor dal and rainbow chard…This was my first time cooking chard and it was sooo good…. reminds me of dantina soppu

yea, i tried this, without the chards though, dint get them here, but the dal was yum! bright and colorful and so nourishing. i used pure ghee to saute the onions and spices and the aroma filled the house :) mashed up the dal a bit after it was cooked for extra flavour.

@Alka – I love to know more about sindhi cooking..have tried so many thanks to you. :) And yes – u dont need chard for this. You can make it plain with some onions and tomato thrown in or may be with spinach..its perfect as it is :)

That is one healthy and delicious dal you got there DK. I made your cranberry-almond bread yesterday and it was awesome. I added a little more honey than your recipe which made it just right for my taste. I loved the taste and the texture. Thanks for a great recipe.

Apart from Dal makhani and tidali daal(a three lentil combo is a typical sindhi dal)i never have tasted such a unique combination of dals. Will try it out, though i ain’t sure i am gonna get any chard leaves here, but i guess i can still go ahead with this recipe isn’t it?

I have already tried 20 of your recipes and I have found them v v interesting. your dishes dont make me miss non-veg (oh well at least most of the time I should say truthfully :) )..Thank you for posting these for poeple like me.
