This delicious dish is prepared by Malayalee household,in India. When it comes to breakfast, they would ensure that something healthy (as it include fresh coconut,many of ma friends may object to the word healthy,but yes i think it"s vry healthy) as well as delicious is made, to kick-start the day and Puttu......is one such breakfast only:)

Ingredients
  • 1/4 kg raw Rice
  • 1/2 cup grated fresh coconut
  • Water to sprinkle
  • Salt to taste
  • Puttukutty-puttu maker
  • Banana leaf for serving (optional)
Method
1.

Soak rice in water for 4 hrs, then drain it and grind it to make fine powder.

In a pan dry roast the rice powder for 5 minutes. Stir it well, while heating.Cool it off.

Mix salt with water ant then sprinkle this to the powdered rice, just to make the powder wet.

Put a handful of grated coconut in the puttukutty and then put rice powder till half then add another handful of grated coconut.

This is done till the top. Close the lid steam it for 5 min over cooker.

Serve hot on fresh banana leaf...with sambhar or any veg kurma or just top it with some spicy toamto chutney....

i learned it from my neighbour vasantha aunty...thx aunty:)))))))this one is regular puttu which i m sharing with you guys,but with this dish also i had experimented so many changes,so many time.this is one of ma fav dish,made it for today morning breakfast...i prefer to have it for at least once a week...hmm but with variations.....:d
