Named after the city where it originated, this easy fried,dish is a great appetizer or side dish to complement the main course.....actually it is made with FISH....but I made it with PANEER (cottage cheese)and grilled it instead of deep frying..:)
This dish is little bit spicy and also has prominent flavor of garlic,ginger and carom seeds.

Ingredients
  • 500 gram fresh paneer (cottage cheese)(cut in thick square cubes)
  • For marination:
  • 4 teaspoon lemon juice.
  • 2 teaspoon ginger paste
  • 3 teaspoon garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon mustard oil
  • 1 teaspoon roasted carom seeds powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli paste or as per taste
  • 1 teaspoon punjabi garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry fenugreek powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mint powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper powder or as per taste
  • 4 tablespoon gram flour
  • 1/2 hung curd
  • Dry corn flour-as needed
  • Cooking oil spray
  • Chat masala- as needed
Method
1.

In a deep flat vessel,combine all the marinade ingredients.Pour over the paneer cubes and refrigerate it for 30 minutes.

Now dust each paneer cubes with corn flour and on hot tawa or griller,grill from all sides till golden,by using oil spray on medium flame.

Sprinkle chat masala and garam masala over tikka and serve on tooth pic for easy handling or as it is with lots of salad and lemon wedge..if any one want extra squeez of fresh lemon juice.....

NOTE: My VEGAN friends can replace PANEER with fresh silken TOFU.
